Where the pavement ends and your off-road adventure begins!!

What is Michigan Moto Adventures?

We run guided dual-sport rides and entry‑level guided rides that help beginners and experienced street riders transition to dirt with confidence.  Bring your curiosity—leave the bike purchase decision for later.  Ride one of our Kawasaki KLX230S dual-sport bikes or Bring Your Own Bike (B.Y.O.B.) restrictions apply.

Why Michigan Moto Adventures?

Off‑road and adventure motorcycles are exciting but can feel intimidating: tall seats, unfamiliar handling, and rough terrain. We remove the guesswork by teaching the shared fundamentals of dual‑sport and adventure riding in a low‑pressure setting using a proven beginner platform.

The Bike: Kawasaki KLX230S

  • Beginner‑friendly seat height: 32.7" for easier footing
  • Lightweight and manageable: easier to control at low speeds and in soft terrain
  • Predictable power delivery: smoother throttle response for learning confidence
  • Off‑road wheel sizes & 6‑speed gearbox: capable on trails and comfortable on faster sections.
Our routes and drills are designed and tested specifically for the KLX230S so you can focus on learning, not wrestling the bike.

What You’ll Learn

  • Body position & stance: standing on the pegs, weight distribution, and balance
  • Throttle & clutch control: smooth inputs for traction and speed management
  • Braking techniques: using front/rear brakes in loose surfaces and emergency stops
  • Low‑speed maneuvering: tight turns, slow control, and U‑turns
  • Obstacle negotiation: ruts, roots, small steps, and loose sand/gravel
  • Trail safety & navigation: line selection, reading terrain, group riding etiquette

Ride Experience & Format

  • Small groups: focused instruction and personalized feedback
  • Safety briefing: helmet, gear checklist, and route overview before every ride
  • On‑bike coaching: short demonstrations followed by guided laps on beginner‑friendly trails
  • Progressive routes: trails chosen and tested for comfort on the KLX230S—routes can be adjusted for skill level

Who Benefits Most

  • Total beginners seeking a safe introduction
  • Street riders curious about off‑road skills before buying a bike
  • New dual‑sport or adventure bike owners who want foundational skills
  • Riders who want a guided ride on Northern Michigan roads, trails and gravel roads

Hello, my name is Paul, and I’m a motorcycle rider.  My journey began in 2002 when I purchased my first bike, a Honda CRF450. While it may not be the typical starter bike, I quickly fell in love with off-road riding, which led me to explore street bikes. I started with a Suzuki GSX-R1000, just kidding! I started with a Kawasaki Ninja 250! Over the next five years and several bikes later, I decided to embrace a new trend: Adventure Riding, and I haven’t looked back since. I’m currently on my third adventure bike, a Yamaha Tenere 700.

Michigan boasts over 4,000 miles of state-designated ORV trails, scramble areas, and forest roads! While I may not ride them all, I certainly plan to try.

Realizing the need to improve my skills, I sought training and began to focus on becoming a better rider. Now, every time I ride, I pay attention and strive for continuous improvement.

This is the mission of Michigan Moto Adventures: to help riders who want to get into dual-sport or adventure riding. We offer beginner-friendly routes and emphasize key skills that enhance riders' confidence while allowing them to ride at their own pace. The best part? You ride our motorcycles!
